15-30 Festival del Vino (Wine Festival)+* -- Aguascalientes, Aguas. Dedicated to San Marcos, this three-century old fair said to be the largest of its kind, features local food and beverage, as well as cockfights, bullfights, with a constant schedule of dances, processions, and exhibits. Día de San Marcos is April 25th and thus the most important day of the festival.
16-23 Semana Santa+ --The holy week that ends the 40-day Lent period. The week includes Domingo de Ramos (Palm Sunday), Viernes Santo (Good Friday) and Domingo de Pascuá (Easter Sunday).
29-30 Festival de Nopales (Nopal Festival)+* --Tlaxcalancingo, Puebla, Set against a backdrop of snow-covered volcanos, amidst fields of nopal cactus, this town celebrates its spinney harvest with a food fair featuring nopal salads, stews, stuffed nopales and even nopal ice cream, as well as other delicious regional specialties such as, grilled meats and barbeque. And, to wash it all down you will find Aguas Frescas de Tuna --a delicious pear-like cactus fruit.
