2 Día de la Candelaria (Candlemas)+ All of México celebrates but one of the better-known celebrations is held in Tlacotalpan, Veracruz. This day commemorates the purification of the Virgin Mary and the presentation of the infant Jesus Christ in the temple.
5 Día de la Constitución (México’s Constitution)*
12-14 National Chili Cook-off Championship+* Ajijic, Jalisco --An internationally known Championship with entries from many countries. There is an abundance of exhibits, entertainment and wonderful chili to savor.
14 Día de la Amistad/San Valentín (Valentine’s Day)*
16-18 Festival del Amaranto (Amaranth Festival)+* -- Xochimilco, D.F., In this southernmost part of the City, known for its ancient floating gardens, which can be see from colorful punt boats, a festival dedicated to the pre-Hispanic grain features amaranth in its many forms, some transformed into moles, hot drinks, the sweet snack bars called alegrías, and many cereals and noodles.
23-26 Feria Regional del Café y la Guayaba (Coffee and Guava Fair)+* --Canelas, Durango. Sample different java blends, guava preserves and marmalades, as well as regional comidas and antojitos in the rugged, wildly beautiful mountains of north central Mexico.
