3 Corpus Christi Day+ - All of Mexico celebrates by blessing the first fruits.
18 Festival de Vainilla (Vanilla Festival) Papantla, Veracruz
Built on a hill overlooking the bright green plains of northern Veracruz, Papantla is the center of the Totonac culture and one of the world's largest vanilla producing zones. The festival hosts indigenous dancers from all over the area performing the dances of the Quetzales, Negritos, and Voladores (Flying Dancers). There are booths with regional food and beverages, small animal figures and baskets woven from vanilla bean pods, sachets and vanilla essence.
3rd Sun Día del Padre (Father’s Day)*
24 Día de San Juan Bautista (ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST)+ --Celebrated throughout México with many people taking the traditional swim at dawn. Native dances are held in Navojoa Sonora, Guanajuato and Tehuantepec, Oaxaca.
29 Santos Apóstoles Pedro y Pablo (DAY OF ST. PETER AND ST. PAUL)+ - All of Mexico celebrates. Mexcaltitan, Nayarit features a race around the island by a pair of canoes manned by the images of St. Paul and St. Peter. If St. Peter wins, tradicion and old belief assure a good shrimp season.
